Studies
During your studies at the IEK, you will learn to analyse works of art and the associated discourse from an academic perspective and to understand them within their historical contexts. This will provide you with an excellent foundation for all career paths within the field and for further qualifications in research and teaching.
The field of European Art History is offered at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level and examines the history of the visual arts, architecture, the applied arts, photography, film, performance art and new media in Europe and in European-influenced cultural spheres, as well as their transcultural interconnections from the early Middle Ages to the present day. Further Master’s programmes offered in Heidelberg enable you to gain in-depth knowledge of art history, museology and medieval studies through collaborations with other disciplines and international university partners.
