Research

The research conducted at the IEK covers a broad range of historical, material, and methodological specialisms – from gender studies and cognitive science to theoretical and iconographic approaches. Through participating in research and curatorial projects at the Institute, students are able to gain valuable insights into the processes of research and inspiration for their own work.

Current research projects at the institute focus on topics such as 20th-century forgery networks (Prof. Keazor), medieval glass gems (Prof. Müller), female art historians prior to 1970 (Prof. Sölch), and archaeological investigations of Magdeburg Cathedral and Cathedral Square (Prof. Untermann). Scholars at the IEK are involved in their own projects within the SFB 1671 “Heimat(en)”. Further projects, including completed ones, will be available under “Research Projects” (see below).
